Christmas FOTD! // 2015

So I thought I'd share my Christmas makeup look with you all today, as I haven't done one since spring and I've gathered a lot of new products since then!

I start with my concealer and then build up - I always apply makeup to my face first, and then do my eyebrows, eyes and lips. Whether you are going to a Christmas party, or just want to make an effort for Christmas day, this is an essential makeup look.

I've found that the foundation I use is a perfect base - the No7 foundation I use in the shade 'cool vanilla' is a perfect matte foundation, yet it has a nice shine to it. I've found that the eyebrow kit by Seventeen provides strong eyebrows, without being too over the top - I've been complimented by friends on my brows saying they are 'on fleek'! There is a step by step guide inside and for just over £5, it's a bargain and lasts well.

This is the finished look! :)
Gold eyes and red lips are definitely my favourite combination, and with the Christmas spirit, they work perfectly! I can't use powder eye shadows as my eyes react really badly to them and puff up, but this works perfectly as a base. For red lips, I use a lip liner first (BarryM) and then use my Revlon red lipstick to fill in. It stays the entire day and I love it!

Products used:
Primer - Maybelline 'Baby Skin Pore Eraser'
Concealer - Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' in Soft Beige
Foundation - No7 'Stay Perfect' in the shade 'Cool Vanilla'
Powder - Rimmel's 'Clear Complexion' in 'Translucent'
Contour/Highlight - Seventeen's 'Define & Conquer' Contour Kit
Highlighter Crayon - Collection 'Speedy Highlight' in 'Pearl Sheen'
Blush - Makeup Revolution Palette in 'Hot Spice'
Eyebrows - Seventeen 'Brows That Brow' Kit
Mascara - Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' in 'Really Black'
Lip Liner - BarryM in 'Red'
Lipstick - Revlon 'Super Lustrous' in 'Really Red'

I hope you've enjoyed reading this style of post.

Have a lovely week,

My Favourite Foundation // Autumn/Winter

 Hi,

I wasn't planning to do a post on my foundation, but I've been loving it so much, I thought I'd share it with you all!

I only came across this foundation because of being given a £3 off voucher for No7. Usually, I don't pay much attention to these and throw them in the bin or get buried in the bottom of my bag. However, I needed a new foundation and with the voucher off, this foundation only comes to slightly more than a drugstore one would anyway!

I confess - I used to think that this was more of an old ladies brand and not even gone near the counter. Oh boy, I was so so wrong! This is my holy grail foundation and that is saying something! You can tell it is a slightly more expensive brand, because the consistancy is gorgeous and just sits on your face so so well - it doesn't even feel like you have foundation on!

The staying power is amazing - I can wear this for a full day of college or a day out and come back with a full face of make up on, even in the rain! The packaging is also so sleek and classy - I absolutely love it!

At £14.50, it is a bit more than you may normally pay for a foundation and it is so worth it - plus, save your No7 vouchers that you usually throw away like I do and put them to good use on this!

You can buy the foundation at Boots, and they also give you a free foundation shade check, which is perfect if you're new to foundation or new to no7 foundation. I am very pale and am the palest shade, so if you're pale, try this foundation!

I hope you enjoyed this chatty review & I'll see you next week!

Love,
Katy

Lush Haul!

Hi,

It had been a good few months since I'd have the chance (and money) to go to Lush, and so I decided to have a little splurge on the website! I thought I'd share with you what I got (everyone loves a Lush haul!)

back row, l-r: Intergalatic, Twilight & the Comforter at the bottom
front: Granny takes a dip, the Experimenter and the Sex bath bomb on top
1) Intergalactic  £3.95, Bath Bomb

I think this may actually be my new favourite all time bath bomb - and THAT is saying something! It is quite literally like sitting in the milkey way - the deep blue like the sky and all the chunks of colour hidden in the middle makes it look amazing! It smells of peppermint and is such a spectacle! There was glitter stuck to the bottom of my bath afterwards though - my Mum wasn't too pleased!

2) Twilight - £3.35, Bath Bomb
This is a bath every little girl would love - pastel pinks and purples/blues with dashes of glitter leave you feeling like a little princess! Using this bath bomb before bed time is perfect - violet aroumas calm you down after a long day and get you ready for bed. Also leaves you feeling nice and well pampered before wrapping up in a dressing gown and hot chocolate before bed!

3) The Comforter  - £4.75, Bubble Bar
I originally bought this last year when I was moving house and I knew it'd be lovely after a stressful day. I absolutely loved it and have re-purchased it ever since - it is definitely in my top 3 favourite Lush products. With scents of blackcurrent, you feel like you're bathing under a bubble of Ribina (but not as sticky - that'd be
a bit gross!) Although the website says half at a time, I'd say a quarter is more than enough! The water goes a lovely dark pink/purple and it feels like you're under a blanket of warm, silky lovely smelling water, in another world!

4) Granny Takes A Dip - £3.65, Bubble Bar
I hadn't used this one before, but I know it's an old lush favourite - I think it's been around a good couple of years, but I'm not 100% sure. I'd heard rave reviews and boy, I was not disappointed! The colourful outside of the product is the same on the inside. As a bubble bar, this can be divided into 2 or 4 sections, breaking a bit under the tap as you go. Therefore, it's more bubbly and not as much as a spectacle. The citrus scent is revitalising & you're left feeling very soft and warm.

5) The Experimenter - £3.95, Bath Bomb
If you're looking for a very colourful and impressive display, look no further! The 'Experimenter' bath bomb has multiple different colours on the exterior. When you drop it in the bath, it's like an explosion of colour in your bath! In my opinion, this is well worth the money! Only negative - because there is so much colour, it can swirl together to make a grey colour.

6) Sex Bomb - £3.35, Bath Bomb
The smell and appearance in the bath of this bomb is very similar to that of the Twilight bath bomb - rather pink with violet. However, I feel like the smell of this bath bomb is a bit more mature and herb scented - perhaps aged at 16+, especially with the name of the bath bomb! The little petals that float out are a lovely surprise and again, very relaxing bathtime experience.

I hope you've enjoyed this slightly chatty post! Let me know in the comments what you're favourite products are! If you haven't, what would you like to try?

See you next week!
Love,

My Skincare Routine

Hi guys!

I'm fortunate enough to have pretty clear and spot-free skin - I do get eczema on my nose and areas of my face if I don't properly look after my skin. I have to be careful not to trigger this, and I've finally found the routine that works for me!

Can I add although this may look like it is sponsored by simple, I promise it isn't - these are genuinely products I enjoy using (although I wouldn't mind being sponsored by simple - if you want me to promote anything for you, look under the 'disclaimer' or 'contact me' tab).

The morning:

As I'm getting ready for the day, I wash my face with Simple's Facial Wash. I just wet my hands with water and then put a blob of this onto my fingers and rub it - lathers well and you don't need much at all! Then I just wash my face, rubbing it all over and then washing it off! I find this wakes you up and really helps your skin stay clear without aggravating it. I then use my Simple 'Light Moisturiser' all over my face. This dries pretty quickly and works throughout the day - it is also perfect to have as a base under your make up. I then apply my make up and rush out of the door to college or wherever I'm going for the day!

The evening:

Once I've got in after a long day, the first thing I want to do is take off my make up (if I have worn any in the day). I use Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water and put some on a cotton wool ball, before wiping off my make off. This hydrates your skin and feel really gentle - it's the first make up remover I've found that doesn't irritate my skin. If I'm in a rush (or can't be bothered to do the full thing, oops), I use Simple's Eye Make Up Remover Pads, which do the job.
As I don't wear make up every day, if I haven't worn some, I just skip to the next stage, which is washing my face. I use the simple face wash I used in the morning, but then apply Simple's Rich Moisturiser. I usually use just a blob and wipe this in circular motions from my chin upwards. I find it best to apply this before bed time, and then it can do it's work overnight.

So that is my skincare routine for good skin! I know this may seem like a lot (or too little for some people!) but it only takes a few minutes more of your day and is very easy to do. Anything is worth it for good skin, right?

Let me know in the comments what you do for your skincare routine and what your favourite products are!

Autumn Wishlist

Hi,

These are some items I'm lusting after and are definitively must-haves in my eyes!

1) Denim Dungarees - £26.99, New Look
These look super comfy and I'm totally into ripped skinny jeans at the moment, so these are very appealing to me! You can never go wrong with a bit of denim, whatever season.

2) Revlon Lipstick in 'Black Cherry' - £4.99, Superdrug
I have a couple of the Revlon 'Lip Butter' lipsticks, and I absolutely love them. It's quite a daring colour, but I love it! This is a very autumnal shade and looks gorgeous. I will definitely be picking this up soon!

3) A-Line Rust Skirt - £19.99, New Look
As I'm about to start college, it's definitely an excuse to buy some more clothes! I love the colour of this skirt and the material looks lovely! I can imagine teeming this with a couple of high necked cowl tops and long boots - sophisticated but comfy!

4) Cranberry Twist Yankee Candle - £21.99, Yankee Candles
There's nothing more relaxing than warming up by lighting a candle, with your favourite snuggly slippers and some cute fairy lights. This is definitely a winter scent and having had Yankee Candles, I can say I love them and they last ages! I can't wait to pick this one up!

So there are my picks - what are you desperate to get for the autumn season? Let me know in the comments!

Current Faves

I've been trying out some new products over the summer and these are the ones I've been loving!

SHAMPOO
As my hair is long, it's quite hard to keep it in good condition. As my hair was becoming quite straggly and greasy, I decided to try this. This is the Aussie 'Miracle Moist'. It has honestly transformed my hair and smells AMAZING!

BODY WASH
I'm one for fruity scents in the shower, and this one does not disappoint. I saw this in the shops and couldn't resist picking it up! The Original Source Skin Quench in 'watermelon' moisturises and lathers up well, while waking you up in the morning and making you smell gorgeous - what more could you want?

EYEBROW KIT
I recently decided to put a bit more effort into my eyebrows in my make-up routine and saw this lovely kit on offer. The Seventeen Brow that Brow was a good dupe for a more expensive kit. There is a step-by-step guide for beginners and it fills my brows in really nicely, making them darker, striking and much more defined.

CONTOURING
Since my school prom, I've started contouring my cheekbones and highlighting. I'd heard rave reviews of the Boujoirs Bronzer and Highlighter & decided I'd give it a try. This gives a sun-kissed look and a good contour.

LIPSTICKS
I picked up the MAC lipstick in Velvet Teddy - a gorgeous nude - and I fell in love! Look at my last post to see a full review! The revlon lip butters are super moisturising and I've been loving the red shade 'candy apple'. This gives a lovely red that pops on the lips - I adore both.

All these products can be picked up from Boots in store, except the MAC lipstick which is from the MAC store itself.

I hope you've enjoyed hearing my favourites this week! What have you been loving? Let me know below!

MAC Velvet Teddy Review

I decided to go for the plunge and buy my first mac product. As I'm in love with lipsticks, a mac lipstick was definitely the thing I wanted to purchase.

This shade, 'velvet teddy' is a beige-toned nude, so it pretty much just adds a bit onto your lip colour. I have fallen in love with it! I was a bit worried, as this lipstick has a matte formula, however, it doesn't show the cracks on my lips and actually feels comfortable - it doesn't feel like stone and dry on the lips!

The lipstick itself glides on really nicely - you can tell it's a slightly more expensive one. It also stays really well - I took my make up off in the evening and had only worn it 6 hours, but it wasn't even fading.

At £15.50, it's definitely not a cheap choice, but if you are looking to treat yourself, then this is definitely worth the money in my opinion!

Have any of you got any mac lipsticks? If so, what's your favourite one? I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Hope you all have a lovely week:)

Summer Reads

Reading is one of my favourite things to do - I have an extensive collection of books! During my GCSE's, I barely had any time to read as I was revising the whole time. Now, I'm on a massive summer holiday, so I have plenty of time again.

I feel like by reading, you can be taken into an entirely different world and be whisked into the storyline. You can take a book anywhere and read it anytime - whether you're on holiday or at home in your room. I am a bookworm at heart!

Here are my top 5 books that I'm reading this summer:

A Work In Progress - Connor Franta
Even if you aren't into YouTubers, I'm sure you'd still love to give this a good read! 22 year old Connor talks wholeheartedly about his experiences in life so far, from school to photography to getting to know himself. It's full of hilarious phrases and truthful advice for teens. I'd highly recommend it - I've only been reading it a couple of days and have nearly finished it already. I can't even put it down!

Dream A Little Dream - Giovanna Fletcher
After seeing glowing reviews about Giovanna's writing, I thought I'd pick up her latest book. I'll try not to give too much away in case you haven't read it, but its about a young woman who's been single for a while and wants something to look forward to. Once she's started dreaming about a perfect stranger, the man himself comes along into her life in reality and not her dreams!

14,000 Things To Be Happy About - Barbara Ann Kipfer
This is very different to the other books I've spoken about so far, but incredibly good nonetheless! If you prefer reading books by small chunks a time and not long chapters, this is for you. This book has a simple and clear objective, but is brilliant in this - simply listing things to be happy about! This makes you smile if you're down and makes you happy. With things ranging from 'a riot of colours' to 'electric blankets', this book is perfect for anyone and everyone.

Cross My Heart - Carmen Reid
This book is history made much more interesting then in class! The plotline is a young girl that is determined to fight for freedom, risking her life in the process. There is love, death and much more in this. I actually cried at the end - it is heartbreakingly beautiful, but so worth the read. The fact that it's inspired by real people makes it even more emotive and amazing.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
Now made a modern classic, this story is about a socially awkward schoolboy who struggles with things like girls, love and making friends. He slowly realises he should get more involved. This is a beautiful tale and really encourages you to re-assess your life and get more involved! Its brilliant.

So there we go - my personal reading list for summer. This is a range from autobiography to fiction and there is something for everyone. If you aren't into reading and didn't enjoy this, sorry; things will be back to normal next week.

What are you planning to read this summer?

See you next week,

June Empties

Hey,

I haven't done one of these types of posts before, but I've seen other people do them and they look quite fun to do, so I thought I'd try this out!

These are the products I have used this past month - I'll be giving you my honest verdict on whether I'd re-purchase them or not bother.

From left to right; Garnier's Ultimate Blend Shampoo - The Sleek Restorer
Lush's 'Snow Fairy' Body Wash - only Christmas Range
                              Body Shop Stawberry Body Mist
                              Seventeen 'Volume' Mascara
                              Soap and Glory Hand Gel

                          Toiletries

1) Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo
Verdict - not re-purchasing
First up, we have Garnier's Sleek Restorer Shampoo. I was disappointed with this, unfortunately. I picked this up in the store as it smelt amazing and Garnier's hair products are usually really good. However, I only had used this about three times before the plastic lid split. This followed with the part of the lid not being able to shut properly and the bit that goes in the hole to fall out. This made using it in the shower a pain and I kept dropping the little bit in the shower. It also didn't make much difference to my hair. Please let me know if you've experienced this before or mine was just a one off! I wont be buying this again.

2) Lush Body Wash
Verdict - will re-purchase at Christmas
I've only just finished using this, as I couldn't resist picking it up in stores back in December even though I had lots of shower gel already! I didn't start it until about April. I did enjoy this smell, however, after using it for 4 months, I did get bored and feel rather sick after smelling this scent constantly in the shower and will be glad to have a change. Nice in the shower, but only for a couple of months - no more than that!

3) Body Shop strawberry body mist
Verdict - will re-purchase at some point
I seem to always prefer sweet body scents over musky ones - they just smell nicer to me. I picked this up a couple of months ago. At £7.50, it's quite a steep price for a scent, however, I think it's worth it. The spray comes out as a mist, so you don't get massive damp sections on your clothes and skin. This also lasted me a good couple of months and I loved the scent - I will be picking this up again at some point!

Beauty

4) Seventeen 'Maximum Volume' Mascara
Verdict - will re-purchase
I popped into Boots looking for a cheap mascara that does the job and came out with this. At £4.70, its much cheaper than your average mascara and in my opinion, does pretty much the same job. Although the wand is a normal shape and not curved like my usual preference, it's easy to apply and really pumps up my lashes. I would recommend this if you don't have the money to be spending £8 on a mascara and want the same effect. I will be re-purchasing this next time I need one!

5) Soap and Glory's Hand Gel
Verdict - will re-purchase
I wanted to go for a hand gel that would stop germs and not smell of that horrible clinical smell or of very strong cucumber. That is why I was very happy to find this! The scent smells very nice and actually pleasant to put on your hands, while being a good hand gel that does the job. I will definitely be buying this again!

I hope you've enjoyed this chatty empties post. Let me know what your empties have been this month in the comments below!

2. Dungarees - £38
3. Chic Playsuit - £14.99

5. High Waisted Denim Shorts - £17.99

Maybelline Brow Drama Review

Hey,

So I picked up the 'Maybelline Brow Drama' in Boots the other day in Boots. I'm going to tell you all what I think of it, as everyone has been raving about it and I was keen to look for other people's opinions of it before I picked it up.

The packaging looks like this - quite simply but effective.

When you open up the product you find this - a mascara wand with the product. The wand is quite fat and nice for applying the product with if you like products like this - if you prefer products with a thinner applicator, this probably wouldn't be for you.

The application of the product is quite simple - pull it out of the packaging and simply comb it over your eyebrows to shape them. Do this as many times until you reach the desired effect. I used it about 3 times to fill in my eyebrows as much as I wanted.

Top - before
Bottom - after

I found that this product really enhanced my brows and combed them into shape - I'm pretty low maintenance with my brows anyway, so this pretty much did the job for me. (This is hard to see in the picture, apologies about the lighting). Although the mascara can come out a little thick at first, it does, on the whole, do what it says on the packaging - your eyebrows do look more defined and it helps to fill them in. However, I would say if you wanted more shape to your brows, I would use something like Soap and Glory's eyebrow pencil to create more of an outline and a slightly better shape.

This product is perfect for anyone who is just starting out with make-up and is uncertain of what to do with their brows. I found this product very easy to use and I'm sure a lot of other people will too. This product is pretty cheap, only £4.99 which is well within anyone's budget.

You can purchase the product online here : http://www.boots.com/en/Maybelline-Brow-Drama-Sculpting-Mascara_1365297/

Healthy Hair

Hey,

I have a lot of people ask me how my hair gets so long and how I maintain it in good condition. Today, I'm going to share my tips on how to maintain long healthy hair.

Washing - it is recommended that you wash your hair at least every other day to make sure you don't strip it of the natural oils. I generally wash mine every other day as otherwise it gets really greasy. When you wash your hair, take care with it and don't pull it about. After washing my hair, I generally apply some de-tangling spray or a hair mask afterwards - this allows your hair to not become too knotted or matted.

Drying - I generally wash my hair before I sleep so that I can let it dry naturally. I then let it dry for a couple of hours and plait it, sleeping with the plait in. This not only allows your hair to dry naturally but stops your hair from becoming too knotted or have mattes in it overnight. Try to avoid using a hairdryer as much as possible, as too much heat isn't good for your hair.

With styling, I'd advise you not to use too many products. I try to keep the products I use to a minium - a bit of dry shampoo if my hair is a bit dead and unwashed, and a bit of hairspray to hold a few strands of hair or a style in place. If you use too much, this damages your hair. If you straighten or curl your hair, try to use heat protectant.

I am not an expert in this field, so don't feel like I know too much what I'm talking about, but these are my personal tips!

I hope you've enjoyed reading this style of post.

Have a lovely week,

Spring Staple // Knitted Kimono

Hey,

So today I just thought that I'd show you an item I recently bought and have been LOVING!

So this kimono was from New Look & I really enjoy wearing it! I'll leave a link at the bottom of the page for any of you that are interested :)

This is perfect for summer - it's nice and warm, but a lovely neutral shade and as it's cream, it's pretty easy to throw on over any outfit. It's a lovely cover up for those windy days. The material is also really lovely.

I absolutely love kimonos as it is, but this one just definitely adds an elegant and floaty edge to an outfit when needed. It is also very warm against those cold British winds and perfect for the bipolar English weather!

I hope you enjoyed my rambling about my favourite spring staple - let me know yours in the comments. Also let me know if you'd like me to do a kimono collection in a future post.

Fresh Faced // Spring

I recently purchased a few goodies, some of which I mentioned in my previous post and I thought I'd try a light make up look with them. I wear this look for school or if I want to pop out of the house for something and just want some coverage.

The BB cream is the main part of this and this gives you a good light coverage without causing your make up to look too heavy on your face.

Products used:
Maybelline Baby Skin Primer
Real Techniques Concealer Brush
Real Techniques Make Up Sponge
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
Maybelline BB Cream
Seventeen 'volumise' Mascara
Natural Collection Lipgloss in 'Caramel Shortcake'

The finished look looks like this! The lighting was quite bright, hence why I look so pale, so sorry for that.

All these products are fairly cheap and affordable, and this look is very versatile, so easy to wear anywhere. The BB cream makes your skin look smooth and gives good coverage, but isn't too heavy.

I hope you enjoyed this style of blog post,

Lip Collection

Hello everyone :)

So today I thought I'd show you all my lip collection. It's not that exciting or full of many high end products, but I really enjoy everything I use, so I thought I'd share it with you!

All my collection together
from left to right...

1) Burberry kisses sample - no 109 'Military Red' - free!
There has been a huge twitter campaign recently where if someone nominates you, you simply sign in through your twitter account and you can choose a shade to be sent to you. I haven't used mine yet but am very excited to be adventurous with a red lip sometime soon!

2) Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick - 077 'Asia' - £4.99
This lipstick is my favourite. It's slightly darker than a nude lip, but is a really gorgeous tone. It's a matte lipstick but really moisturising on your lips and stays really well. Also at £4.99, it allows you to buy a lipstick as good as one on a higher range!

3) Revlon Colourburst Laquer Balm - 105 'Demure Reservee' - £7.99
I personally love Revlon's colourburst range as they are moisturising but bring so much colour. This is a high shine lipbalm and is a really nice spring shade. It's perfect to wear on it's own or over a lipstick. The packaging is also very pretty and shiny! (Hence the reflection).

4) Natural Collection Lipgloss - 'Caramel Shortcake' - £1.99
This has been my trusty lipgloss since day one and I always use it on a day where I don't feel like a lipstick. It has a really nice shine and stays a long time. It also tastes delicious - not that I'd recommend you eating it, only wearing it! It's an incredibly cheap price and good to slip in your handbag to give your lips that shine on a no make up day.

5) Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter - 045 'Cotton Candy' - £7.99
These products are really good for if you want to wear a lipstick but can't wear a matte one as it shows off your chapped anc cracked lips. This product saves the day - it hydrates your lips but brings a lot of colour to them. This is a lovely pale pink shade that is very spring/summery and looks lovely on the lips.

6) Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter - 035 'Candy Apple' - £7.99
I couldn't help but be tempted by this gorgeous shade. It's a colour popping red  that would go really nicely with practically any outfit in your summer wardrobe, but isn't too 'in your face' as such!

I really hope you've enjoyed this week's post.
Leave me a comment on what your lip collection is like!

See you soon,
Kat x
